Browser games, built and tested with real players.

CodePulse Dev is an independent studio. We write the engine code, design the game and use an AI-assisted workflow to move faster. Our first game, Merge Sentinel, is playable right now.

Merge Sentinel

A merge tower defense where a robot guardian holds the core. Waves of aliens attack from every side of a 5×5 board. You buy defenders, merge two identical ones into a stronger unit and choose boost cards and upgrade branches that shape each run.

Between runs you spend crystals on permanent upgrades, robot skins and unit skins, then try to push one wave further. The robot fights too: tap an enemy to fire rockets, tap the robot to release its eye laser.

Status
Closed playtest done, balancing in progress

This is the playtest build. A public release on CrazyGames is planned.

10unit types, from blasters to black-hole vortexes
4zones: Deep Space, Frost Fields, Volcano, Neon City
20unit levels, with bosses every 5 waves
8languages: EN, RU, ES, PT, DE, FR, TR, PL
Four Merge Sentinel screens: boost card choice, zone info, evolution branch choice and a German-language boost screen
In-game screens: boost cards, zone modifiers and evolution branches, shown in Russian and German. Everything is drawn procedurally on a single canvas, so the full build stays under 2 MB.

What the closed playtest showed

Merge Sentinel was tested by outside players on the hosted build. Telemetry from that sample drives the current balance work.

16+external tester IDs
25+recorded gameplay runs
142highest observed external wave
6 daystelemetry observation period

Telemetry records progression, waves reached, upgrade choices and run outcomes. We use it to find where runs stall, which upgrades dominate and how difficulty scales. Some testers came back for repeat runs. Balance changes are also checked with automated bot runs.

This is a small closed sample, evidence of testing rather than scale. Tester identities and raw data are not published.

Build, test, measure, iterate

The repository has about 96 commits and keeps its planning in the open: a living plan, a product brief and a release folder sit next to the code.

  1. Build

Ship the next mechanic or fix in small, playable steps.

  2. Test

Hand builds to outside testers and watch real runs.

  3. Measure

Read telemetry and run bot simulations on waves, upgrades and outcomes.

  4. Iterate

Rebalance numbers, refactor, release the next build.

Where Claude Code fits

  • Gameplay implementation
  • Debugging
  • Refactoring
  • Iteration on features
  • Balancing and supporting workflow tasks

Claude Code is a tool in the workflow. The developer sets direction, makes the design decisions and reviews the result. The game was not generated autonomously.

The stack

A lean browser-game toolchain with no unnecessary layers.

Phaser

Rendering, input and scenes. Units, enemies and backgrounds are baked procedurally, with no sprite sheets.

TypeScript

Typed game logic across the whole codebase, safe to refactor.

Vite

Fast dev server and a compact production build.

Claude Code

AI-assisted implementation and debugging.

Roadmap

Current

  • Continue Merge Sentinel development
  • Public browser distribution, including CrazyGames

Planned

  • Android
  • Steam
  • Additional content and iterations

Planned items are intentions, not committed release dates.

Questions

What is CodePulse Dev?

An independent development studio building interactive software and games with an AI-assisted engineering workflow. Its first product is Merge Sentinel.

What is Merge Sentinel?

A browser tower defense game where you merge defenders into stronger ones, pick boost cards and upgrade branches, and hold a robot core against alien waves across four zones.

What technologies are used?

Phaser 3 for the game, TypeScript for the code and Vite for development and builds. Claude Code assists during development.

How is AI used during development?

Claude Code helps with gameplay implementation, debugging, refactoring, iteration and balancing-related workflows. It is a development tool. The project is directed and reviewed by a human developer.

How was the game tested?

Through a closed playtest with external testers. Telemetry recorded progression, waves, upgrade choices and run outcomes across 25+ runs over six days, and the findings informed balancing.

Where can I play it?

Right now at merge-defense-meruem.surge.sh, the playtest build. A public release on CrazyGames is planned.
